What This STEM College Student, Michelle is Doing This Summer

"Michelle Espinal ’16 is majoring in mathematics at Saint Mary’s and civil engineering at Notre Dame. She’s interning at Aceitera El Real S.A in Chinandega, Nicaragua and learning from two construction firms. The project consists of building the external structure of a turbo-generator that weighs almost 500 tons. Interpreting plans and understanding the calculations has been fun, she says."
