Hall of Fame golfer Carol Semple Thompson often referred to as the “Queen of Golf” is a women’s college alumna from Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia. From the class of 1970 she became one of the all-time greats! Her amazing career with many career highlights spanned more than 40 years."

Women's College Tradition: Hoop Rolling
One of a kind tradition at this women's college: Wellesley College. I LOVE this tradition. Looks like so much FUN!!
Traditional Schedule of Events (From Wellesley's Website)
Little Sisters (underclasswomen) camp out the night before the event to hold a spot for their Big Sisters (upperclasswomen) on Tupelo Lane.
Hoops are passed down to seniors or provided by Cafe Hoop—and then are decorated.
Come morning, the seniors arrive—dressed for success in their Commencement gowns and class colors.
At a signal, the seniors race down the lane, pushing their hoops with a wooden stick.
Back in the day, it was proclaimed that whoever won the Hoop Roll would be the first to get married. In the status-seeking 1980s, she was the first to be CEO. Now we just say that the winner will be the first to achieve happiness and success, whatever that means to her.
The winner is carried away by her Wellesley Sisters...
...and has the honor of being thrown into Lake Waban.

New Tradition at This Women's College
This morning I saw a Facebook post from Mary Baldwin College (soon to be Mary Baldwin University) and wanted to share. What a GREAT new tradition and what a WONDERFUL class gift!!
President Pamela Fox begins a new tradition tomorrow evening: kicking off Commencement Weekend with a jaunty ringing of the new bell in front of the Administration Building — a gift from the Class of 2015. After the Commencement ceremony on Sunday, graduates will be invited to ring the bell as a celebration of their achievement.

Women’s College Alumna Thanks Her Alma Mater
Just had to share this post I saw on Facebook.

I know that Alumna don't usually do this but I thought that I needed to post this and thank my Cottey professors, mentors, sisters, P.E.O.s and many more. I truly never thought that I would have been successful after Cottey because I thought that my college experience was going to be Cottey and I was going to move on from Cottey and just study and get straight A's. But once I realized that I needed to use my Cottey power at my new university I never looked back. I started to think of Cottey as a trampoline that bounced me to here and I needed to make the most of my new experience and today I was honored the most prestigious award a University of Dubuque student could receive.
University Leadership Award - "This is the highest leadership honor awarded by the University, given annually to one college student. It is given to the student who has shown commitment beyond personal gain, served fellow students, encouraged and promoted positive actions in others, and demonstrated in his or her personal life the true spirit of the Mission of the University of Dubuque."
I wouldn't be the leader I am today without being able to call myself a Cottey girl. Thank you Cottey you're truly changing lives!

On May 1, 2015 Brenau University awarded 167 undergraduate diplomas on the graduating Women’s College students. 57 Bachelor of Science, 46 Bachelor of Science in Nursing and 40 Bachelor of Arts degrees. Remaining Women’s College diplomas this year were for studies in music, business administration and fine arts.
